While I was reading about the discovery of DNA, I also read about Rosalind Franklin and her story honestly made me sad.
She was the one who captured the famous Photo 51, the image that basically revealed the structure of DNA. Her crucial data was used without her permission, the recognition went to others, and she died at just 37 from cancer. She never saw how important she truly was.
It hurts to see how hard life was for deeply smart, brilliant women just a few generations ago. And I wish I could say it’s completely different now. But even today, a woman is often considered “less capable” by default she has to keep proving she’s smart enough to be heard.
